like a belt

hung You like a necklace
with your self-contained brilliance
resting like a pendant
between my breasts,
hidden beneath my shirt.

You could have been
a pin tucked firmly in my hair
or garden dirt
underneath my nails.

i would have insinuated You
like a letter
into my back pocket,
my hand covering
Your fragile paper preciousness.
